ZZK Records Presents Chancha Via Circuito & Coco Maria + El G at Townhouse Venice

Onda Latina is back, a delightful mix of Latin sounds for the dance floor. On this occasion Chancha Via Circuito and Coco Maria are stopping by Venice Townhouse with a selection of deep cuts straight from their crates. With a DJ set by El G to round out the night. Chancha Via Circuito Argentinian producer Pedro Canale has been working on Chancha Vía Circuito, a musical project that has allowed him to travel the world and put his mark on what is now known as latin american electronic music, since 2006. He began by exploring digital cumbia, but as he journeyed through Latin America, he experimented with acoustic sounds. His catchy sound transformed him into a notable reference for a new generation of artists. All 6 studio albums, the remixes, and Eps from Chancha Vía Circuito are edited in Argentina, the U.S., Europe, and Japan with labels such as Wonderwheel Recordings, ZZK Records and Crammed Discs. Their international reach has expanded further than any Latin American territory and can nowadays be heard playing at the top festivals in Europe and the U.S. – such as MUTEK, Roskilde, and Vive Latino. The general public will recognize Chancha’s sound thanks to one of their hit remixes, “Quimey Neuquén,” which was selected to be part of the Breaking Bad soundtrack in 2013 Coco Maria Music has been a constant in Coco María’s life since she was very little. This is what it’s like to be born in a country as sonorous as Mexico: on the other side of the window there is always a song playing. Now she is a DJ and radio broadcaster, based in Amsterdam and has managed to transform her musical heritage into a vibrant and elegant force that continues to discover and makes Latin sounds travel to the most unexpected corners. Since her morning radio show on Worldwide FM, Gilles Peterson´s online radio station catapulted her onto the international scene, she has not stopped touring all five continents. Her unique style fuses the best of tropical music with his interpretation of modernity, and has resonated at festivals around the world, from the Rainbow Disco Club in the Netherlands and Indonesia, to the Sun Cycle Festival in Australia and the Bahidora in Mexico, to on European stages such as Dekmantel, We Out Here, ADE, DGTL, Worldwide Sète, Glastonbury, Trevarefest and Lost Village. In 2022 she released her second compilation, Club Coco ¡ahora! The Latin Sound of Now, on the Bongo Joe label, an ode to the diversity of contemporary Latin soundscapes. This project consolidated her proposal, innovative and always in motion, and has given way to what will be her next project: the launch of a record label, Club Coco, with which she seeks to continue spreading and giving space to Latin music with a fresh flavor. And contemporary. In addition, her well-known radio show, Club Coco, will have a regular slot on NTS every two weeks, from where she will also continue to weave those sound connections between cultures, eras and developing stories. Coco María has established herself as a unique storyteller, capable of weaving emotions through her sessions. Her selection, sensual and warm, is an invitation to let yourself be carried away by rhythms that tell all kinds of stories for those willing to listen. El G Every musical genre needs its trojan horse. In the case of digital cumbia and digital folklore, ZZK Records has been at the epicenter of the movement. Artists like Chancha Via Circuito, Frikstailers, La Yegros, El Remolon, Tremor, King Coya and more recently the Ecuadorian artist Nicola Cruz, Colombians Ghetto Kumbe and Mexicans Son Rompe Pera and Karen y Los Remedios have all launched their careers with the indie Buenos Aires label, now based in Los Angeles. ZZK grew out of Buenos Aires. Grant C. Dull (pronounced Duel), first came to the Argentine capital in 1999 and reinvented himself more than once, going from musicologist and online magazine editor, to visual artist for events and finally to curator and DJ. He founded the bilingual cultural website WhatsUpBuenosAires.com, and co-founded ZZK Records and Zizek Club with his Argentine partners. ZZK artists have played more than 300 cities on 5 continents, have penned deals with major labels and their music has been featured on an episode of Breaking Bad and countless other movies, TV shows and ads. As a DJ Grant has performed as El G in more than 100 cities around the world including stops at Coachella, Roskilde, Berghain in Berlin and the Modern Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Russia. ZZK Records Presents It’s the latest of more than two dozen events hosted by ZZK Presents since the label relocated to the City of Angels in summer 2019, with one mission: To shine a spotlight on the spaciest, spiciest, sultriest sounds for a hungry crowd of cultural connoisseurs – after nearly a decade of bubbling up in Buenos Aires, Bogota, Lima, Quito, La Paz and Mexico City.
